My process involves creating a pencil sketch of the face followed by multiple layers of transparent washes merged together to build form and shadow. While I selectively position the face; I purposefully leaves the white portions untouched, providing a bright source of light. I created this unique signature style using an unusual treatment of the hair, which is formed by carefully painted linear lines.
