3D Mosaic Panels

JW Designs -Jim Wildman 3D MOSAIC WOOD PANELS Jim Wildman is a contemporary American artist who creates sculptures, installations, panels and drawings using various media. He was born in Spokane, Washington, and currently lives and works in Claremore, Oklahoma. Serving Green Country. JW Designs. Ship anywhere.

The source of my inspiration comes from utilizing remaining or abandoned pieces of wood that was not used in a woodworking project or a piece I specifically cut and craft. In my imagination I give them a "second chance or new life."

All wood for my 3D Mosaic Panels were already used before as some element of a woodworking project or is a natural wood element, limb, branch or wood knot treated for inclusion.

Drawing inspiration from myriad sources including architecture, and building.

MATERIAL Combines

Conveying our sense of place within the world Jim Wildman explores media combined with wood varieties and mixed media.

Wood, Steel, polymer, gypsum, plaster fiberglass, foam, paint, resin, gold, copper and silver leaf.

JW Designs - Jim Wildman creates engineered wood sculptures and ethereal wall pieces that evoke his training in architecture and art history. Jim Wildman’s complex, multi-faceted works explore traditional painting with combinations mixed media and various wood types (oak, cedar, mahagony, ash etc.)

His 3D Mosaic Wood Panels embrace the beauty and transitions of nature: beauty and decay, evolution and entropy, real and imagined. Jim enjoys creating large-scale wall works and each is designed for a specific application.

"I wish people could see the beauty of nature.

There is energy and vitality in every piece of wood I use. As for me, it’s like a hidden treasure which I discover almost every day."

Working with common materials, such as wood beams or reclaimed barn wood, milled and cut to add to 3D Mosaic Sculptural Panels that are often stained or enhanced with polymer gypsum, plaster, fiberglass, wood, and steel.

SCULPTURES ON THE WALL

Jim Wildman creates structures that evolve in space, in part due to an interest in the object’s relationship to the ground and studied architectural engineering.

At first view, it would appear the artist removes material to reveal the form. His approach, however, is in fact additive, the result of methodical designing, cutting, layering and combing of various types of wood.

He then may add controlled drips, of paint, gypsum, resin that is best exemplified by the MATERIAL COMBINE PANELS—a perfect combination of media and sculpture wood practices.

"Satisfaction of designing and creating the unique abstract wooden wall sculptures is a driving force behind all my 3D Mosaic Panel work."

ACOUSTIC SOUND ABSORBTION

ADDED BENEFIT OF WOOD SCULPTURES IN A ROOM

The wood actually reduces reflection of sound and makes JW DESIGNS 3D Mosaic Sculptural Panels a good sound absorber. The material dampens noise and contributes to restful acoustics in residential buildings, industrial premises and public spaces.

Acoustic absorption refers to the process by which a material, structure, or object takes in sound energy when sound waves are encountered, as opposed to reflecting the energy.

The wooden block panels are an elegant combination of art and acoustic treatments for studios and home theaters.
